The state key laboratory of tropical Marine environment (south China sea institute of oceanology, Chinese academy of sciences) will hold a workshop on "global ocean thermohaline circulation and climate change" in guangzhou from November 12 to 23, 2018.This workshop aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic theories of ocean thermohaline circulation and its energetics, as well as the research frontiers of the relationship between ocean thermohaline circulation and climate change, so as to provide a teaching and discussion platform for domestic and foreign experts and scholars.
In the first week of the workshop, basic theory courses were given priority in the morning, and in the afternoon, students divided into groups to discuss the classic literature of thermohaline circulation and the basic concepts of thermohaline circulation.The second week is dominated by frontier research lectures, with domestic and foreign experts specially invited to make frontier research progress reports in related fields.See the course schedule for details.
Proof of credit is available and students who require full credit will be required to submit a course paper of not less than 10 pages (double-spaced) within 30 days of the end of the course.Course papers require students to choose topics within the scope of the workshop and to be scientifically original.Unit students of the Chinese academy of sciences are required to log on to the education management platform www.ucas.ac.cn to complete online course selection before October 30, 2018.
