1972年生，博士，研究员，博士生导师，现为美国物理学会流体动力学分部会员，是包括Physical Review Letter在内的八种国际著名期刊的评委。主要研究领域为深海动力过程（包括海洋环流、海洋混合和热液喷发等过程）以及相应的流体力学实验模拟。曾主持香港政府资助局科学基金2项，现主持国家自然科学基金等其它基金3项。发表SCI学术论文18篇，他人引用120多次。他引论文分布在二十余种国际学术期刊和国外专 著上。在湍流热热对流的研究中，研究了大范围瑞利数和普朗特数的热通量标度律，此结果首次实验验证了著名的G–L理论模型的正确性，并被公认为此领域中的重要基准数据。研究了湍流热对流中的两种主要相干结构---热羽流和大尺度环流之间的关系。首次确定温度场周期性振荡的起源，解决了这一长期悬而未决的问题。有关复杂流体比热的研究成果2008年发表以来，被十多个国际研究团队广泛引用。
