吴梅林博士目前主要关注人类活动和自然变化对海洋生态环境演变,尤其近海海洋环境与微生物相互作用,红树林生物生态学等方面的研究,目的研究营养盐、浮游动植物以及微生物方面等方面,包括(1)近海海洋环境与生态学,包括珠江口、大亚湾、三亚湾、粤东西上升流以及海南近海上升流;(2)深远海生物地球化学与生态学研究;(3)典型生态系统红树林分子及微生物作用机制。
目前主要关注人类活动和自然变化对粤港澳大湾区生态环境演变,尤其近海海洋环境与微生物相互作用,红树林生物生态学,取得重要的创新性成果,发表论文80多篇,其中在Marine Pollution Bulletin、Journal of Environmental Management、Frontiers in Marine Science、Scientific Reports、Journal of Marine Systems、Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science等期刊发表SCI论文60余篇,其中第一作者或通信作者30余篇,引用1000余次,研究成果被"Nature China"("自然中国")选择为亮点论文以及2011年国际埃尼奖(Eni Award 2011)提名,获2015年广州市科学技术进步一等奖(排名5),2019年海洋工程科技奖一等奖(排名9)。作为SCI期刊Aquatic Ecosystem Health & Management客座编辑(2015),担任Water(2022)、Frontier in Marine Science (2022-2023)客座编辑。
